  • The Arboretum has great views across Canberra and you can enjoy breakfast or lunch, or just a coffee and/or cake while taking the panorama in through the huge windows. The many various types of trees ...  more »
  • We were lucky enough to arrive just as an introductory tour to the arboretum was starting. I would recommend doing this if you have a chance, because it explains how it came to be and some of the tree...  more »

  • Went here on a hot summer day but the Visitor's Centre was lovely and cool with an amazing wrapping view of the park area. It is worthwhile to read the exhibit placards in the Centre to get the background and ongoing history of the Arboretum, it is a massive undertaking!! But what an asset to our nation's capital! The park has been thoughtfully designed with winding roads and bike/walkways all the way through - allowing you to access all areas of the sprawling arboretum. We spent the most time in the outstanding Penjing and Bonsai exhibit. It has been meticulously designed and the trees on show are carefully curated and rotated. We spoke with two volunteers who work there weeding and trimming the trees to keep them immaculate. The location is so peaceful and quiet, it is hard not to relax and be in awe of nature. The craftsmanship and care is something to behold - and for all ages too. I have never heard of anything like the National Arboretum in other cities or indeed countries and I am proud that Australia has one. For a country with such beautiful and vast botanical species, seeing that the capital has invested both in the large botanical gardens and the Arboretum is comforting to know. Really recommend heading out - it is free to enter and very very peaceful.
  • Views are awesome. Food is good but would prefer more selections maybe in the future? They have an awesome park for the kids and the coffee is a hot and miss at times. Haven't tried the restaurant yet and will need to check the activities and other sites there.
