Though its origins date to the 12th century, Wuppertal has been at the forefront of technological development since the German Empire.Zentrum fuer Internationale Lichtkunst Unna and German Football Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Head to Haribo Fabrikverkauf and Dortmunder Ufor plenty of shopping. Venture out of the city with trips to Bergehalde Grosses Holz (in Bergkamen), Wildpark Warstein (in Warstein) and Mohnetalsperre (in Soest).
