For a weirdly wonderful and unique view of Edinburgh, head to Camera Obscura and World of Illusions. The camera obscura itself sits in the roof and features a set of mirrors and lenses that project moving images of the city onto a screen. You'll be able to pick up projected pedestrians in your hands and redirect traffic over paper bridges. The guide narrates an entertaining history of Edinburgh while you experiment. Throughout the rest of the building, you can observe and play with all sorts of other optical tricks. Your entrance fee enables you to come and go as you want throughout the day, and you can return the next day for free if there more exhibits you want to see. Put Camera Obscura and World of Illusions and other Edinburgh attractions into our Edinburgh trip itinerary planning site, and watch your holiday take shape.

It was a really great experience. My 1.5 year old had so much fun running around and touching things, and so did we. There was a lot to see. The rooftop was amazing! Lots of wonderful picture opportunities. We could see for miles across the city. There was a lot of stairs inside, so not super accessible for persons with mobility issues. We were there for over 2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Probably could have stayed longer, but we needed to meet up with our group.

It was indeed a great place to visit. Lots to see and do. Lots of fun for a family outing or even as a couple. Tickets even give you unlimited access for the day so was great to go with kids and then later go as a couple. During the day it was busy and cramped at sections so I recommend going later at night when you can have time to enjoy the exhibits. Overall a fun experience. That tunnel needs to be tried a hundred times. It's great fun.
