Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh

Had a fantastic time at the Zoo with the wee one, couldn't recommend it enough. We were lucky to go mid week and it wasn't too busy. We had a chance to meet some of the zoo keepers (which by the way are ridiculously knowledgeable) and you can totally tell they absolutely love the animals. All animals looked very happy, well looked after and most enclosures are modern with a lot of stimulating areas for the animals. I think the variety of animals is totally appropriate for the size of the Zoo. It was my first time visiting and I thought it would be way smaller than it actually is. I have been to bigger zoo's abroad and the animals didn't seem to have as much space as some of the animals in Edinburgh, especially the wallabies, tiger, penguins and others. I will definitely visit again as I had the feeling the money spent was well spent and invested back into the Zoo.

As zoos goes this one was not too bad. Unfortunately the zoo is located on the side of quite a large hill and so some disabled buggies will find it a strain to get to some parts. The penguin area is definitely the best part of this zoo for me. Lots of different kinds of penguins in one place, very nice to see. Unfortunately the Pandas were not available to be viewed on the occasion I visited, and I have heard lots of people in the past not being able to view them either. So if you are visiting the zoo just to see the pandas, please be aware it may not happen.
