Holmwood House is the finest and most elaborate residential villa designed by the Scottish architect Alexander "Greek" Thomson. It is also rare in retaining much of its original interior decor, and being open to the public. A Category A listed building, the villa is located at 61-63 Netherlee Road, Cathcart, in the southern suburbs of Glasgow, and is owned by the National Trust for Scotland.Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Glasgow trip simple and quick.
Holmwood is considered to be immensely influential by several architectural historians, because the design as published in Villa and Cottage Architecture: select examples of country and suburban residence recently erected in 1868 may have influenced Frank Lloyd Wright and other proto-modernist architects.

Upstairs undergoing renovations, (should be all open now), so it was pay by donation to see the downstairs. Best guides ever: knowledgeable, warm and made us laugh. Wee tea room. Impressive house and garden.
Beautiful house. Upstairs being renovated so just took a donation. An older lady, can't remember her name, showed us round. She was wonderful and obviously passionate about Greek Thomson. She really made the place come to life and we learned so much from her. She is a total asset to the place. Thank you.
