If you could only choose one icon to represent Great Britain, Big Ben would have to merit strong consideration. The name commonly describes the clock tower at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, but the title originally went to the bell inside the tower. The official name of the tower is Elizabeth Tower. UK residents can take a tour of the tower, going all the way to the top for spectacular views of London. If you're a foreign visitor, you'll have to be content with snapping photos from the ground. The clock tower is photogenic at any time of day, but even more so when it's lit up at dusk. Probably the most iconic of London's buildings, I was amazed at how relaxed the whole area was, I expected a lot of security checks etc. Having said that there were armed police in site and it felt actually safe. The are can be crowded with tourists, but if you're lucky you can bump into an MP or two. If extra lucky you might see a Minister walking in or driving in. Explore the pubs in the area, some are really nice but crowded.
A great experience at one of London’s most famous landmarks. Currently seems under some maintenance. The feeling of seeing the tower is a nostalgic moment from our childhood stories.wow what a feeling!! Walking by and clicking the shots from such a places is fun! From central London, Big Ben is visible if we stay closer to the river. Anyway I love to visit this place last week and took a boat ride over river Thames. The weather was fantastic too.
