Eat, drink, and shop at Borough Market, one of the largest and oldest markets in the city, which sells a variety of foods from around the globe. Spend a few hours browsing hundreds of stalls and shops offering fresh meat, fruit, vegetables, cheeses, breads, fish, spices, poultry, and seafood. This market is known for the quality of its fresh produce, and is a frequent stop for many of London’s most notable chefs, restaurateurs, and passionate amateur cooks. • Borough Market is one of our favourite areas of London. Closed on Sundays, on a Saturday it is better to come there early if you want to enjoy the atmosphere without being suffocated by the people.

  • You don’t get much more quintessential British market than famed Borough Market. Of all the locales I had on my London bucket list, this was right up there. Arriving with my less food obsessed (but still enthusiastic) family, I spent considerably more time hanging around taking in all the sights, smells and sounds, as well as stopping to chat with the various vendors and merchants hearing about their unique products. Everything about this market is class – and you can bet you’ll pay top dollar – or pound, rather – for it. Food is expensive in London and good food costs substantially more. However, you get good bang for your buck – or quid, rather – at Borough due to the vast selection of ready-to-eat fares on offer. Many will let you taste their products, especially if you give indication that you’re keen to purchase something. That was the case with the items I bought to take home. The smoked salmon was incredible, as was the endless array of cured meats ranging from lamb to truffle-infused wild board. Oysters are always a market mandatory as is coffee and neither of these disappointed. Everything you see here produce-wise is top notch despite finding it to be generally quite substandard in the UK. The colour of it really seemed to pop on this gorgeous summer day. The Market Shop also offers an extensive selection of handy and useful Borough Market branded souvenirs like carry bags, aprons and cook books. Their free publication Market Life is exemplary food writing letting you know everything that’s happening on the market’s calendar.
  • Beautiful market located underneath a train rail. The vendors offer incredible products with a freshness I've never witnessed before. I can only recommend the fresh Scottish rock oysters and for your main course something of the incredible dishes you find a the beginning of the market. You can also find anything from wine to cheese or truffles, buy exotic spices and freshly baked bread. It's a gourmets wonderland
