The UEL Boat Club is one of the most successful sports clubs at the University of East London. Its rising success at BUCS and European University (EUSA) Competition, is compliment by a very successful learn to row programme, a lively social scene, and considerable support and training for novice and intermediate rowers.

The Boat Club burst onto the BUCS scene in 2011, when UEL won 4 medals at the Regatta in May. The double sculls pairing of John Collins and Alan Sinclair then went on to win EUSA gold, and three of our rowers won Henley titles with their Leander teammates. The rowing world has taken notice of UEL’s recent successes, and our flexible study programme, and comprehensive scholarship packages, make UEL particularly attractive to rowers.

The club currently trains out of London Regatta Centre on Royal Albert Dock, just beside our Docklands campus. As well as access to water and boats, all UEL boat club members have access to the training room at the Centre. We currently train with the Queen Mary University Boat Club, ensuring that each individual has access to suitable training partners.

We have recently appointed a coach who will work to develop our novice and intermediate squads, and our links with London Youth Rowing ensure that we provide a quality Learn to Row programme for complete beginners and that we continue to develop a club suitable for all levels.
