Jack the Ripper Museum, London

3.5
#61 of 257 in Museums in London
Our award winning museum perfectly recreates the terrifying world of London in 1888, the year that the world's most horrific crimes were committed.

Housed in a painstakingly restored Victorian house a few doors away from where the prime suspect lived and a block away from the morgue where the autopsies were performed on the dead women.

Six floors take you back to the horrors of the Victorian East End as you experience the sights, sounds smells and taste the fear of his victims.

A "must see" for all visitors to London. All museum visitors can get a JACK THE RIPPER WALK led by one of the world's leading authorities on the Jack the Ripper murders. The Walk starts at 3.00pm from Monday 21st November, book online to get discount.
For travelers who use our world travel planner, London holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Jack the Ripper Museum and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • the museum is housed in a small house and, in addition to the most important facts, conveys above all the ATMOSPHERE around the ripper murders. 1. stock: scene of a murder 2nd stock: this might have looked jack the rippers living room (here you can touch everything and also cover yourself hat and coat) 3rd floor: scene of the police investigation, who were the suspects? 4. stock: simple room of the time, who were the victims? if you want more information, you can then buy a book in the shop or get smart on the internet! card purchase in advance not necessary, flyers that lead through the museum are offered in several languages.

  • I have already read a lot around the subject I came out very disappointed. (We came away disappointed). First of all, the asking price is too expensive compared to what you are visiting. It's very small. We are given a leaflet explaining what the coins contain. If you already know the outlines, then this "museum" will bring you nothing more. I even thought that I could have opened a museum with the things I have at home ... The museum clearly relies on the sales of the small "memories" shop. That's too bad. They should just review the asking price for what they offer.

  • Very interesting and nicely done. The lady who worked there was so welcoming and friendly. It was nice to see each floor as a different type of room related to the time and events and the stories behind the victims. An extra plus for me was my great grandfather lived (and died) in this building!
  • This place was unique . My wife liked the atmosphere created. Costumes were available to use. I was told that the morgue had a funny smell, I suppose that's how they are supposed to be. My daughter and I found it a bit creepy but enjoyed talking to the museum caretaker while my son and wife explored at their leisure.
