Kensington Gardens, London

4.7
#4 of 186 in Parks in London
Take respite from the bustling city in one of the capital’s eight Royal Parks. William III purchased the area in 1689 to be made into the private gardens of Kensington Palace; the asthmatic King enjoyed its tranquility and salubrious air. Today, Kensington Gardens serve as a peaceful refuge for all people living in, working in, or visiting Central London. Stroll through the avenues of trees and ornamental flower beds, pop into the Serpentine Gallery, and take in some of the Gardens’ most famous landmarks including the Albert Memorial, Peter Pan Statue, and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground. • Only the gardens are to be seen as Kensington Palace is very disappointing, to avoid if you only stay a few days in London, there are many other things to see, the 15 or 20 euros entrance are not worth them :(

  • Very nice to cross this area, especially on sunny days. Enjoy the squirrels and sit on the striped canvas chairs. Very familiar place, where families enjoy the sun. I noticed the space not as well maintained as other times. There are areas in part with the cut herb, there are others where the herbs reach our knees.

  • Beautiful surroundings.... perfect for our afternoon picnic...plenty of bins which was a plus....kids really enjoyed the run around and the princess Diana park was just perfect. Fantastic visit and will most definitely return as it is surrounded by tube stations .
  • Lovely place. Beautiful green space. Lovely pond. Wildlife is lovely. Maze too was great. Cafe also. All good.
