Limehouse Basin Lock is a lock forming the exit from Limehouse Basin to the Thames, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, England. It is the final lock on the Regent's Canal. The Narrow Street swing bridge sits between the lock and the river.
The current lock was built in 1989 for yachts and pleasure craft, to conserve water in the Basin. It measures 100ft by 30ft and was built completely within the chamber of the former Ship Lock entrance to the basin. This measured 350ft by 60ft. The original gate-recesses and one of the gates remain in situ, to demonstrate the size of the former lock.
The nearest Docklands Light Railway station is Limehouse.

  • Limehouse represented the first Chinese settlement in London. Located in Towers Hamlets, the basin gives rise to the regent Canal which, through Regent's Park, reaches Little Venice and allows one of the most characteristic walks in all of London. Limehouse, like nearby Shadwell, is also a fine example of redevelopment of once infamous and dilapidated neighborhoods.

  • Lovely part of London where the Thames meets a canal. Boats a plenty. Pretty to walk around. A great starting place for lots of interesting walks. Good transport links. If you have a boat, it's probably a great place to moor as well.
  • I love this area of London, nice places to eat and walk
