Ross Nye Stables Reviews
I would like to warn everybody who think of reserving the horse riding here. When I booked 1 hour horse trekking in Hyde Park by e-mail, one of staff (Kirsty Anthony) replied me. It wasn’t polite…She.... more »
My daughter and I both ride at home, and love to book horse experiences when traveling. I researched Ross Nye Stables here on TA before booking and my fellow reviewers did not steer me wrong. Dagmara.... more »
Kirsty was so accommodating, my partner who hadn’t much experience was made to feel very at ease and I was given a wonderful, forward going, responsive horse to enjoy. Thanks to Helen for guiding us.
If you care about animals, I would NOT recommend Ross Nye Stables. This barn owns 32 horses, and they rotate 16 in and 16 out every 2 months. In other words, 16 horses are working in London for two months, while the other 16 are at the farm. I give them credit for allowing the horses to rest at the farm after 2 months of work. But, while they are in London, the poor horses are kept in super small stalls tied to the wall and facing the corner, so they can’t see out at all. These same 16 horses are kept in stables meant for 3 horses. The quarters are cramped, and the horses barely fit into their tiny stalls. Because of the poor conditions in which they’re kept, they are understandably grumpy and sad. Many of the horses had shoes that were literally falling off of their feet, but this didn’t stop the so-called trainers from using those horses for rides. The excuse was that the farrier had a death in the family and couldn’t make it to fix the shoe situation. So, here’s a simple solution, DON’T ride the horses until their shoes have been fixed properly. The overall situation is just plain bad. In addition to the poor conditions for the horses, the helmets are dirty and clearly not disinfected, the stirrups are stretched out and needed to be retired, and the boots are completely stretched out and just plain disgusting. Please don’t support this establishment.
