A vital part of royal life since the reign of Richard II, Royal Mews houses the cars, carriages, and horses used by the monarchy on royal and state occasions. It is considered one of the finest working stables in existence. Marvel at the ornate detail of the carriages, including the particularly lavish Gold State Coach. It has been used at every coronation since that of George IV in 1921. You can also admire the some of the fine livery worn by the Queen’s coachmen, which has remained largely unchanged since Victorian times. Be sure to pick up a headset for a free audio tour outlining the history of the Royal Mews and giving insights into how it operates today. Guided tours are also available during peak tourist season. On arrival, you and your belongings will be subjected to airport-style security checks. Try to bring as little as possible with you to get through the security screening more quickly. Royal Mews Reviews
First time visiting the Royal Mews, informative staff and super little shop all at reasonable prices, there's something for everyone more »
Stopped here on a bit of whim; interesting display and history of the royal carriages and several royal cars. The try on the clothes of the soldiers is near the end and at least, free. more »
Beautiful horses and State Coaches within the grounds of Buckingham Palace. Opens to the public. Jolly good. The audio guide is available in several languages. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Please bring your family and friends. This is a ticketed event. Thank you.
I liked the old cars the Queen uses like an old Bentley and the horse carriages have gold on the outside on one special carriage and the others were very nice too. A good place to visit in summer to early autumn.
