Sherlock Holmes Museum, London

3.2
#30 of 252 in Museums in London
At Sherlock Holmes Museum, see the home where the famous fictional detective and his assistant Dr. Watson lived. The interior of the Georgian townhouse appears just as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle described it in his Victorian-era stories. Pose for a photo in Holmes's fireside armchair in the study overlooking Baker Street, view the detective's private belongings and papers in his bedroom, and check out the wax models of characters on the third floor. The museum's address is 221B Baker Street, just as it was in the books, but it's actually located between 237 and 241 on the street. • Nice exposition, faithful to the “Sherlock” series. Had a lot of details but the place is very small and gift shop is really expensive. But I recommend!!  more »
  • I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes himself. And for the crime story lover, this is definitely a playground. But rather than a museum, this can be said as small museum with gift shop. But still, we...  more »

  • If you are a big Sherlock Holmes fan it is worth the effort to go. It is an attempt at creating what Arthur Conan Doyle describes in his stories. It is pretty good. It is furnished with Victorian antiques but it is small and has Sherlock’s study and bedroom then rooms for Mrs Watson and Dr. Watson. Some rooms have very good wax statues of Holmes and key people from some of the stories. The tour probably takes less than 30 min.
  • Had a great time! 15 people go in at a time. 3 floors to look through and a gift shop. First floor is guided, the rest are yours to explore .£15 per adult. Everyone is in period costumes and there's a proper shop attached with great souvenirs. A deerstalker hat is about £49. You know you'd look good in one.
