Going back through history it is learned that the first Church dates back to 1222, the second rebuilt in 1542 at the behest of Henry VIII, from 1722 to 1726 other renovations were carried out. Today it is presented with a tapered bell tower culminating with an octagonal lantern topped by a spire. The structure of the bell tower contrasts with the front of the Church that has an entrance with a portico in the neoclassical style, its ceiling decorated with floral motifs and coffered plaster. The interior of the Church is three aisles, the central aisle turned barrel with stucco decorations, tiles with effects of ogival section arches, above the side aisles there are large wooden-clad stands, finally to note the organ built in 1990.

From the outside very impressive, I was fascinated by the somewhat simpler interior of the church. The most beautiful thing I found was the church window behind the altar. The slightly distorted lead glazing shows a cross. Simple but beautiful. An inspiriatory place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of London for a short time. You should definitely find your way to the crypt. There is a coffee/restaurant where you can eat very well and cheaply.
We attended two different programs during our time in London. It is a very interesting institution doing good work for the poor of the city. While the performance spaces were very interesting. The performances were at the opposite ends of the spectrum, jazz and classical. Both were enjoyable but the classical featured exceptional musicians. Dinners were of the old time style and very tasty. While the attendees include honest individuals - my mobile phone was handed in by a guest.
This is a truly marvelous church. Every interaction I have had with everyone from St Martin's has been an absolute pleasure. From the church office admin, to the clergy and events team they are professional, super efficient and beyond helpful. I can not Tacoma this place enough. For worship, arts and crafts, food, events and amazing concerts I love love love St Martin-in-the-Fields! It is my haven, with lots of versatile spaces that all exude peace. By the way they show love, you can definitely tell this church is a blessed sanctuary.
