The Chocolate Museum is an independent museum established by Isabelle Alaya, a French artisan chocolatier, who started her own brand, Melange Chocolate, in 2008.

Our mission is to inspire a passion for learning about quality chocolate and its history both in Britain and worldwide.

Located in the heart of vibrant Brixton, The Chocolate Museum is a unique place in London where you can make, taste and learn about chocolate.

We run a very dynamic programme of workshops for kids, adults, the whole family, schools, holiday clubs, home education, corporate groups and special occasions. The programme includes special dates for half term and summer holidays.

The museum has a permanent exhibition with range of objects and memorabilia acquired over many years from different merchants and collectors. We also have important books with valuable information about chocolate.

The menu includes hot chocolates, drinks, a unique selection of chocolates and the drop-in chocolate making sessions for adults and kids when anybody can come and make your own chocolate truffles and lollies, using good quality chocolates, fillings and a nice range of decorations.

We also hold events with food, chocolate demonstrations by expert chocolatiers or bean-to-bar makers and drop-in workshops.
Our London trip planning site makes visiting The Chocolate Museum and other London attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • This was a bit different to what we’d imagined but it was still fun. If you’re looking to learn a bit more about the history of chocolate and play a fun game at the end where the victor eats chocolate buttons this is for you.
  • The museum itself is just one room with some cool artefacts and information. But they offer chocolate classes in the shop upstairs which was a reasonably priced fun afternoon and we ended up taking home a tonne of really tasty chocolate we'd made. Thanks for a lovely afternoon!
