The Foundling Museum Reviews
We went for our 12yr old, since she has loved watching CBBC Hetty Feather. The ground floor is excellent in describing the history and stories of the foundlings. We agree with another comment that... more »
This is, in my opinion, an important museum which details the positive and negative features of the old Foundling Building. The first such 'home' of its kind, there was a strong, rigid structure to... more »
We had a lovely time at the Foundling Museum. The ground floor tells of the lives of Foundlings and there is a Hetty Feather trail that our 10 year old enjoyed. Heartwarming and heartbreaking display of tokens too. Artefacts, paintings and dressing up on the first floor. Here we met a really lovely man called Robin who worked there who gave us lots of information and made our visit really special. He was extra kind and chatty with our daughter and answered all her questions. Third floor was a room dedicated to Handel with big armchairs where you could play a choice of his music. The basement is a special exhibition space that changes. All in all it was great for an hour and a half and we all enjoyed it.
A hidden gem that everyone should be going too. I feel like this museum could have been twice as large since there was so much to learn about the history of the foundation. The foundling tokens alone could be there own museum. I left feeling like there was so much more I could have learned. I regard not buying one of the book in the gift shop.
