  • It is also a fountain with a statue of helios horse in Piccadilly Circus. Above the building where the statue is located is the statues of three goddesses, Aglaia, Euprosine and Talia.

  • I was on my way from Piccadilly Circus to Trafalgar Square. It is a statue with a sense of dynamism that four horses of the solar god Helios are rampage in the pedestal of the fountain. But there was no water spewing out of the fountain. There are many statues in London, but statues with four horses are rare.

  • One half of a commission for the Criterion Theatre by the sculptor Rudy Weller unveiled 1992. Depicting The Four Horses Of Helios ; Bronze lifesize Aethon, Eous, Phlegon and Pyrois who proved too strong for the Greek Sun God and dragged him to his death. On the corner of Haymarket and Piccadilly Circus, under cover and lit from above, with a small bubbling water feature bobbling in front of them. Nostrils flared, full of straining sinuous movement and their hooves close to passers-by head's, they look as if they are going to leap onto the pavement and run rampant through the streets. 6 storeys above them is the other half of the commission ; The Three Graces aka The Three Daughters of Helios also by Rudy Weller. Unveiled 1992. Aglaea, Euphrosyne and Thalia. Made from aluminium covered in gold leaf. Are suspended in playful acrobatic leaping/diving movements. Best seen at a distance with the sun reflecting off them. In close proximity to BODY WORLDS, and The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain ; Anteros the revenger of unrequited love. Nearest station is Piccadilly Circus.
