Full of archaeological and anthropological scholarly achievements, Pitt Rivers Museum is also easy on the eyes. When you enter the main court on the bottom floor, row after row of glass cases will greet you. These are filled with artifacts collected from every corner of the world by scientists at the University of Oxford. Look up and you may see some of the artifacts hanging above your head from the sculpted steel support beams. The second floor was renovated in 2009 and reopened as the Clore Duffield Education Center. This is a family-friendly center that gives visitors of all ages a chance to touch exhibits and learn the ins and outs of archaeology. Wow! What a great museum! The display of all objects is very cleverly done. It is interesting and fun, suitable for all ages and for every taste. Highly recommend
It's great to have access to such a great museum for free! :) It's also sad to see the humanity history through the wars that we have been battling along the centuries. Pitt Rivers shows a wide collection of battle equipment such as guns, swords, amours, battleships and many more, showing how different cultures had different costumes and ways of fighting, and how war shaped our history. They have currently an exhibition of Syrians and how war affected their life, which was really great too.
