Southend Pier & Railway is the longest pleasure pier in the world. Stretching 2.16 km (1.34 mi) into the Thames Estuary, the pier makes for a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Pass local fishermen as you stroll to the end of the pier, or take the small train journey, which is handy for children and the elderly. Enjoy a coffee at the end of the pier in the cafe at the Royal Pavilion. Visit the RNLI lifeboat station and museum while you are there.
