Anne Hathaway's Cottage & Gardens
Set among extensive gardens, Anne Hathaway's Cottage & Gardens is located only 1.6 km (1 mi) from Shakespeare's birthplace. The house was passed down through the Hathaway family until 1846, but the family still lived there as tenants in 1892 when the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust acquired the property. Inside you'll see spacious rooms that have been redecorated to resemble what they may have looked like during the life of Anne Hathaway, William Shakespeare's wife. In the gardens, you'll find modern sculptures depicting Anne and Shakespeare's sad story. Save money by buying your tickets in a package that includes entry to all the Shakespeare sites in the area. Wear good walking shoes and consider walking between each site to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Put Anne Hathaway's Cottage & Gardens on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Stratford-upon-Avon trip planner.

Very cool to see the old furniture that was used. 13 generations of Hathaway's lived in that house. It was incredible. The guides spoke about each room you went to and you walked on the stone floor that William Shakespeare walked on! There was activities for kids there too. The gardens were wonderful and they had an orchard walk as well.

Great place to spend time. The house is great, staff gave us a good talk about the house and the area around. There is activity tent in the garden ideal for children. Great place for a picnic. A lot of very good photo locations. Parking on site is non-expensive, however there are only two choices of 'under 3 hrs' or 'over 3 hrs'.
