  • A great couple hours spent here on our break to York. We are not train enthusiasts, but this museum is still very interesting, the exhibits are very well presented and in fantastic condition.  more »

  • What a museum! Incredible machines that you can see there. Some of them so huge - it makes such a difference standing next to a train on the platform vs in here. Amazing experience - can only recommend it. And it’s free (donations welcome), so had to try the coffee/scones and they’re quite good as well. Very much enjoyed the day there and might come back someday.
  • This is a great place to bring toddlers because it's got plenty of large rooms that they love to wander around in. It's even better if they're interested in trains! It's better on a weekday if possible because it gets really busy at weekends. It is free to get in which means you can afford to have a nice cake and hot drink as a treat. Highly recommended.
