Protected from big waves, Turtle Bay Beach is a lesser-known spot for snorkeling. The calmness of the water allows for great visibility of the coral reefs and tropical fish below the water's surface. The public beach also offers a good chance of spotting the endangered Hawaiian green sea turtle, a highlight for many visiting the island. The resort on the beach has been used as a setting for many TV shows and films, like "Hawaii 5-0," "Full House," and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." If you work up an appetite swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing, there is a restaurant on the beach. • These guys were so good. The crew was obviously experienced, and always on the lookout to make sure everybody was safe and having a good time. We saw turtles. At least three, and many saw more...

  • This is a public beach and has public parking with the resort parking. There are a few permanent beach umbrellas. The waves are relatively calm and it stays fairly shallow a decent distance from shore. It is a little rocky, but not terrible. Showers and restrooms are available. We go fairly often with my young kids. They love it.
  • Not too crowded (at least with the resort shut down) and a nice beach. It's basically on a coral reef though so be very careful about going into the water and has a bit of a strong current.
