Maui Ocean Center reviews

We visited the ocean center with family members to add some variety amidst our days on the beach. Nice facility with some beautiful animals. We enjoyed our visit and I would visit again when on Maui. more »

You can learn a lot about the life in the ocean around Maui. You especially learn a lot about coral. The 3-D movie on the humpback wales was great. more »

I was pleasantly surprised. We're from Oregon and have a pretty great aquarium in Newport. The reef section was great, there was a pretty amazing movie on humpback whales (best 3d footage I've seen), and all in all pretty nice. The kids really enjoyed it. We spent about 1.5 hours getting through it all with a 7 and 5 year old who were pretty engaged. We enjoyed the small presentations and videos throughout the aquarium.

This isn't on the same scale as the Georgia Aquarium, or Monterrey, or Baltimore, all of which are truly world-class. But the Maui Ocean Center is as nice as any other aquarium I've been to in the U.S., and is very well worth a visit. The $5 extra for the 3-D humpback whale movie is also worthwhile, and make sure you make your way through the tunnel in the Open Ocean building for some up close viewing of sharks, giant rays, and countless fish.
