Create an itinerary including Viktualienmarkt
Wander through the buzzing stalls of Viktualienmarkt, Munich's largest outdoor market. Originally started as a farmer's market in the early 19th century, the market has become a popular delicatessen. You can find gourmet goods and locally made products, as well as an array of fresh meats and produce. Pick up a loaf of fresh, oven-baked bread and a refreshing, fresh-squeezed juice. Walk around to admire the abundance of hand-made Bavarian goods. Stop by the beer garden if you'd like a typical meal of German sausages. Plan to see Viktualienmarkt and other attractions that appeal to you using our Munich trip planner.

  • The market is packed with food stalls and tables for enjoying some great Bavarian street food and beer. We loved the food and atmosphere so much that went for 2 days.

  • Wow, you could eat your way though here all day long, but know, it’s German fare, not any sushi or noodles to be found here. More than enough produce vendors, though most were selling the same. I...

  • Wonderful place to buy everything from coffee to flowers and meats to mementos. Spent about 4 hours there. Bought some really good sausages and Salami. Some wonderful cheese stalls. Also a very good selection of eateries selling staples. There are places to sit. I found the different water fountains especially attractive. Definitely visit.
  • So many fresh fruit and veg places to choose from. Not to mention the jams, honey, cheese and wine. You'll end up spending a lot of money here on everything nice.
