Create an itinerary including National Memorial Arboretum
National Memorial Arboretum stands as scenic commemoration to fallen British servicemen and women. You'll find nearly 300 different memorials and more than 50,000 trees here. Start your visit at the Armed Forces Memorial, which remembers the 16,000 military personnel who lost their lives in battle or acts of terror since World War II. On November 11th at 11 a.m., the memorial uses the sun's position to shine a shaft of light on the wreath it contains. Among the other memorials here are ones to Jewish servicemen and women, the Berlin Airlift, and the 306 British and Commonwealth soldiers shot for leaving the lines during World War I. A remembrance ceremony takes place daily in the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness at 11 a.m. Before you visit Alrewas, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • Fantastic day out. Need a full day really. Started with remembrance service in Chapel and a talk. Hired a buggy, driver Douglas fabulous, very knowledgeable and friendly. He drove us round and told us about all that we passed. Beautiful setting, memorable and emotional. Grounds immaculate, can walk for hours. A must do place to visit. Superb. 3rd visit and still gets me each time.
  • The most beautiful but sad place I have visited. The grounds are well laid out and designed sympathetically to give each memorial it's own space. A visit here will leave you humble and grateful for all those who have given there life. The memorial 'shot at dawn' has had the most affect on me personally and well worth making sure you visit this particular memorial if you visit. The cafe is very nice and has plenty of seating and is very open plan.
