See how ancient Romans bathed at The Roman Baths. Hot springs have bubbled up in Bath since time immemorial, and the Romans began developing a temple and public bathhouse here around 60 CE. Today, you can tour the various sections of the incredibly well-preserved complex, including the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, and the Roman Bath House. The main area of interest is the open-air, column-lined Great Bath. When you enter the site, make sure to take the audio guide that's included in the ticket price. After touring the different areas, enter the museum to see artifacts collected from the original bath. As tempting as it might be to bathe yourself where ancient Romans once did, the site does not permit you to enter the water. A visit to The Roman Baths represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Bath online road trip planner to plot your vacation.

This was very, very interesting, way beyond any expectation I had of what it would be. It is real, it is ancient, it is entertaining, it is well-presented, it is convenient,

Total ripoff. Entry price far too high. When I visited in my youth 50 years ago we got to see, and feel the temperature, of the water at source. Now, they want you to read and see the interpretations.... more

Probably the most famous thing about Bath is the Roman baths, and for good reason. The attraction itself lets you walk around the site of where the Roman complex used to be. The main bath you can see from the top floor and the bottom floor, then you get taken through various other bits of Roman history in Bath. You will get an audio guide included in the somewhat steep price. However this is extremely useful in guiding you around the paths at your own pace. Would recommend this place to anyone with a general interest in history.

The roman baths are an enchanting amalgam of the new resting on bones of the old to bring to life an ancient times that reflects on mortality of nations and eras. The one way pattern of visit and audio tours were stupendous. Me and my wife felt awe struck by the magnitude of work put into making this relic of bygone days, to life.
