Inside the disused 19th-century workshops where miners once toiled is National Slate Museum. The museum is part of the National Museum of Wales and sits along the European Route of Industrial Heritage. Inside the workshops, refurbished rooms set up to evoke the quarryman's daily life. Learn the history of slate and the process by which it's mined. The heavy slate was transported between buildings by the water-powered tram still functioning in the courtyard.     We wern't planning on visiting here but thought we'd have look in whilst visiting the area. I'm pleased we did as it was fantastic! The admission is free and the exhibits are really informative. Any.....  more

    Great place to find out about the heritage of the slate mining industry. Free admission and dog friendly. Nice cafe for coffee and cake. Large wheelchair accessible car park and entrance. Then you can go for a walk round the lake with stunning views of the mountains.

    Brilliant place to visit! Free entry with lots to see. Could spend a good few hours there, longer if you do the quarry trip. Place for snacks and toilets. Would highly recommend 👌
