Located at the end of the historic "Cobb" (harbor wall), Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium educates visitors about the fish and marine life of the area. This child-friendly venue allows you to participate in hands-on exhibits: hold a starfish, hand-feed a mullet fish, and touch a lobster. The aquarium also displays nautical artifacts and shows a presentation about the area's history, including the Cobb. This aquarium is a great rainy-day destination. • Marine Aquarium We have visited the Marine Aquarium twice in the space of 6 months with two different sets of friends with children. It’s suitable for younger and older children and adults too that want to learn more about the local sea life in the area and some really interesting history of Lyme Regis. The owner was so helpful, enthusiastic with the children and shared some really lovely stories and information. My son had lots of questions and he was so happy to take time to talk to him. He gave us lots of his time, the children loved holding the starfish and he gave them lots of interesting info on them. Each time we come back to visit Lyme we walk up to the area where the aquarium is and we’ll visit again with friends and family we haven’t bought here yet. If you want a personal touch on a lovely family trip then here’s the place to go. We got to also watch the local fisherman come in with their catch whom we’re equally friendly and informative to the children. Hidden gem for sure. Well worth the money and pleased it’s going to a lovely local business.
  • A very small aquarium but very hands on! A tank full of grey mullet that you can feed by hand. Other tanks are full of UK species that you can easily see. The tanks are well labelled with great explanations about the fish/animal within. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
