Names of the mayors who have taken office since 1838 are inscribed on the skylight in the landing. Look down at the mosaic floor depicting cotton flowers visited by bees. The Great Hall is decorated with the Manchester Murals, which illustrate the city's history. The building's most recognizable feature is the Great Abel clock tower, rising over 87 m (285 ft) above the rooftops. Manchester Town Hall is a building full of character with its impressive architecture. I loved the vaulting, stained glass windows and artwork in the interior. I visited with a friend and we were going to have lunch there but decided on afternoon tea at midday instead! It was absolutely delicious with a choice of sandwiches, cakes and pastries beautifully presented on a three-tier stand.

Passed from pillar to post for over an hour before I ended up talking to the right department. Talk about poor staff training. This is how councils waste so much tax payers money!! Poor management from the top down!!
