The Forbidden Corner
When you buy a ticket to The Forbidden Corner, you'll be given a checklist of things to find among the foliage, but not a map. It is up to you to search out the listed sites among the maze, statues, animated creatures, and dense gardens. Many of the sites are inspired by the European classical tradition, except when the proprietor and architect, Colin Armstrong, added his own flair. The gardens were originally intended as a private pleasure garden, but were expanded and opened to the public at the proprietor's request. The site was voted one of the best European follies of the 20th century by the Folly Fellowship, and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
