Create an itinerary including Pembroke Castle
Learn about the rich, bloody, and important history of this ancient castle, originating from 1093. Explore inside Pembroke Castle and have the scenes from its past brought to life by the castle’s exhibitions. Sculpted figures, sets, lighting, and a triggered audio sequence recreate scenes of interest, including a medieval banquet, the birth of King Henry VII, and a bloody Civil War battle between Cromwell’s troops and Royalists. Explore the labyrinth of passageways and towers, and take in the views from the 23 m (75 F28ft) Great Keep. Peer down into the medieval basement dungeon and spot the Pembroke “prisoner.” Enrich your understanding with a guided tour, available for a small fee. These need to be pre-arranged in low season, but they leave at scheduled times the rest of the year. Buy your tickets to Pembroke Castle in advance from their website to avoid queuing on the day. Use our Pembroke trip itinerary planner to add Pembroke Castle and other attractions to your Pembroke vacation plans.

  • What a castle! Fascinating history and loads to see. Climb up the keep as the view is fantastic. The kids loved the fun history videos. The Henry VII room was great. And the cave was awesome! Be ready to climb steps though!
  • Absolutely wonderful day at this magnificent Castle! If ever you go and I recommend it highly, please go on the guided tour with Gareth the ex history teacher. He was fantastic! He made the whole tour very interesting with his extended knowledge of Henry VII and William Marshall. We spent four hours here and loved every minute. The tour is free with your entrance ticket and you will not be disappointed.
