Absolutely brilliant museum the trains are magnificent ..the Mallard is my grandson and my favourite.! The historic Royal carriages are beautiful and sitting along platforms with vintage furniture, fittings and luggage gives an atmospheric taste of bygone days.. there are two super cafes and an outdoor picnic area too.. plus a lovely souvenir shop.. there's a model railway display with various trains working at intervals and for the little ones there is a soft play area ..all in all a fabulous day out.. 🚂👍

This is a great museum for railway lovers. The museum has a large range of historic locomotives on display from the Victorian era to the present day. The engines are all beautifully painted and looked after. Older visitors are likely to enjoy the nostalgia of seeing engines from some decades ago. The museum also appeals to younger visitors who enjoy both looking at the trains and playing in the the children's areas both indoors and outdoors. The venue also provides catering and a shop where indulgent grandparents can buy toy engines.
